At Lake Norman Animal Hospital, our vets perform soft tissue surgery, orthopedic surgery, spays & neuters, and c-sections.
The veterinarians at Lake Norman Animal Hospital practice up-to-date surgical procedures using sterile surgical tools and techniques and stringent surgical protocols.
Every surgical procedure we perform includes continuous electronic patient monitoring and pain management provided by a dedicated anesthesia nurse.
We also provide post-operative monitoring and pain management, and thorough instructions for at-home care.
Soft tissue surgery addresses ear, nose and throat conditions, and includes hepatic, gastrointestinal, cardiothoracic, urogenital, skin and oncological surgeries.
Orthopedic surgery for pets addresses the joints, skeletal system and their associated soft tissues, including muscles, cartilage, tendons, and ligaments.
We understand that it can be frightening to learn that your pet needs surgery. Please rest assured that the recommendation of veterinary surgery is made with the best interest of your pet in mind. We will ensure that you understand why surgery is recommended, and are comfortable making the decision to go ahead.
We will verify the specifics of the procedure, examine the patient and ensure blood tests have been completed and reviewed by the vet in order to determine if your pet is at risk for any anesthesia-related complications.
Surgeries are performed in a room used only for sterile surgical procedures as a precaution to prevent infections and cross-contamination.
We will wear disposable caps and masks at all times in the surgical suite. Those directly involved in the procedure will wear sterile gowns and single-use gloves.
All of our surgical instruments and equipment are carefully cleaned, sterilized, and wrapped prior to each procedure in order to prevent infections.
